Triple killing suspect jailed
Man charged with murder for deaths of 2 adults, child in town of Newburgh
TOWN OF NEWBURGH, N.Y. >> A Newburgh man is behind bars, charged with the shooting deaths of two adults and a child on state Route 300, police said Monday.
Kaliek Goode-Ford, 30, was charged with three counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder, all felonies; one felony count of criminal possession of a weapon; and additional lesser charges, according to the Town of Newburgh Police Department.
He was arraigned Monday after
noon in Newburgh Town Court and sent to the Orange County Jail without bail.
Town of Newburgh Police Chief Donald Bruce Campbell said investigators believe Goode-Ford was the only gunman in the Sunday morning shootings at 1751 Route 300.
Also Monday, police identified the three people who were killed as Jimmy Crisantos, 27, Shatavia Crisantos, 26, and Giovanni Tambino, 9. The child was Shatavia Crisantos’
son, police said.
A 3-year-old boy, whose name was not provided, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the 8 a.m. attack and was in critical but stable condition at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, police said. Another child who was in the home was unharmed and rescued by a neighbor.
A motive for the crime remained under investigation, but police said a relationship between the suspect and victims has been established.
Police believe the gun used in the killings might have been tossed in the Hudson River. Divers could be seen in the water off the Highland shore
on Monday.
Goode-Ford is a repeat felony offender, according to state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision records.
He served one year of an 18-month state prison sentence in 2011 and 2012 after he was convicted in Orange County Court of criminal sale of a controlled substance and attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. He then was convicted in the same court in July 2013 for attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance and served two years in prison.
