Reading of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ takes place Feb. 6

WHAT: Reading of the “The Vagina Monologues”

WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m.

WHERE: James and Betty Hall Theatre on the campus of Dutchess Community College, 53 Pendell Road, Poughkeeps­ie

DETAILS: The college’s students, faculty and staff will stage a reading of Eve Ensler’s play “The Vagina Monologues” to mark V-Day, a global movement featuring widespread benefit performanc­es to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups. V-Day founder Ensler interviewe­d more than 200 women before creating “The Vagina Monologues,” which celebrates women’s strength and sexuality. The performanc­e contains adult content. The performanc­e is free, but cash donations will be accepted for the Grace Smith House, a local nonprofit agency providing services to victims of domestic violence.

SUNY New Paltz’s Dorsky Museum hosts contempora­ry art exhibition

DETAILS: The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz announces “Collecting Local: Twelve Years of the Hudson Valley Artists Annual Purchase Award,” a new contempora­ry group exhibition featuring video, photograph­y, sculpture, prints and paintings by 21 artists from across the Hudson Valley. The exhibit is curated by Anna Conlan, the museum’s curator and exhibition­s manager.
