Reading of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ takes place Feb. 6
WHAT: Reading of the “The Vagina Monologues”
WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m.
WHERE: James and Betty Hall Theatre on the campus of Dutchess Community College, 53 Pendell Road, Poughkeepsie
DETAILS: The college’s students, faculty and staff will stage a reading of Eve Ensler’s play “The Vagina Monologues” to mark V-Day, a global movement featuring widespread benefit performances to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups. V-Day founder Ensler interviewed more than 200 women before creating “The Vagina Monologues,” which celebrates women’s strength and sexuality. The performance contains adult content. The performance is free, but cash donations will be accepted for the Grace Smith House, a local nonprofit agency providing services to victims of domestic violence.

SUNY New Paltz’s Dorsky Museum hosts contemporary art exhibition

DETAILS: The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz announces “Collecting Local: Twelve Years of the Hudson Valley Artists Annual Purchase Award,” a new contemporary group exhibition featuring video, photography, sculpture, prints and paintings by 21 artists from across the Hudson Valley. The exhibit is curated by Anna Conlan, the museum’s curator and exhibitions manager.
