Area business people ‘On the Move’

Dana Kuhns of Doylestown, Pennsylvan­ia, has been named as Scout Executive of the Rip Van Winkle Council, Boy Scouts of America, which serves Ulster and Greene Counties.

Kuhns began January 13 and replaces Raymond Braun, who retired after 15 years in the role.

Kuhns was most recently serving as Field Director, where he managed up to six profession­al unit leaders within the Doylestown council, which serves more than 8,500 youth. Previously, he held posts in Moosic, Warren, Mechanicsb­urg and Dubois, Pennsylvan­ia; and Portland, with increasing responsibi­lity within the Boy Scouts of America profession­al services over the last 33 years.

Kuhns received his bachelor of science in forestry from West Virginia University. He is an active volunteer firefighte­r and Rotarian, having served as past president.

The Rip Van Winkle Council serves more than 1,300 youth in the two counties and is expected to grow through Scouts BSA, which now welcomes girls, enabling them to pursue the rank of Eagle Scout.

••• Dutchess Tourism, Inc. announced the slate of board members who were elected to three-year terms at the board’s annual meeting on Jan. 16.

The board also elected officers at the meeting for fiscal year 2020. Judy D’Alessandro from the HYATT house in Fishkill will serve as board chair while Angela LoBianco-Barone will be vice chair. Additional­ly, Cruikshank will serve as secretary and David Bova from Millbrook Vineyards & Winery will serve as treasurer.

••• The Omega Women’s Leadership Center has selected Abby Graf Subak to be its new director.

Graf Subak has devoted her career to developing progressiv­e nonprofit organizati­ons, including working with such esteemed nonprofits as 92nd Street Y, Idealist.org, and Arts Gowanus in Brooklyn.

At Arts Gowanus, Graf Subak transforme­d the organizati­on from a oneevent, three-volunteer operation into a major presence for artists and community members with yearround programmin­g, more than 25 active volunteers, and thriving fundraisin­g. While the director of orga

nizing at Idealist.org, her accomplish­ments included launching a global initiative of people acting on their good intentions and making a difference in their communitie­s. As a consultant for the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan, she developed programs to engage global constituen­cies in women’s leadership initiative­s. As a consultant for the #GivingTues­day philanthro­pic campaign, she ran a project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to collect and share everyday people’s stories of generosity, with the goal of inspiring others to also give back. Earlier Graf Subak worked at Public Conversati­ons Project, an Omega partner, and she has served on several community service boards. She is the mother of two teenagers.

••• Dr. Rodrigo Erlich, a blood and cancer specialist with more than 26 years of

experience, is the new chief of medical oncology and hematology at the Dyson Center for Cancer Care in the City of Poughkeeps­ie.

His responsibi­lities include developing clinical and general research programs to investigat­e the most common cancers, such as breast, lung and prostate. Along with recruiting new oncologist­s and hematologi­sts, Erlich will work with hospital leadership to implement clinical trials for immunother­apy, a biological therapy treatment that enables the immune system to recognize and target cancer cells.

Erlich most recently served as a gastrointe­stinal oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Basking Ridge, NJ. Prior to this, he served as director of the Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical

Center in Wilkes Barre, Pa.

Erlich also held the title of chief of medical oncology at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Md., and John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.

He completed a residency in internal medicine, followed by a medical oncology/hematology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and its Hillman Cancer Center in Pennsylvan­ia. He completed a post-doctorate fellowship in cancer research at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.

Erlich is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Internatio­nal Society of Gastrointe­stinal Oncology and Maryland and D.C. Society of Clinical Oncology.

••• Tina M. Selner was promoted to the newly created position of Vice President & Chief of Credit Administra­tion at the Bank of Greene County.

She has worked at the bank for over 16 years. She graduated from Cairo-Durham High School and graduate

with a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany. Tina resides with her family in Leeds.

Tim Penk has joined the Bank of Greene County’s Lending Team to the newly created position of Vice President & Chief Credit Officer.

Penk has over 25 years of experience in the credit industry, with more than 10 years at the vice president level. Tim has deep roots to the local community, as a graduate from the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District, and then graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Syracuse University. Tim resides in Selkirk, Albany

County.

••• The Ulster Federal Credit Union has appointed William J. Querbes as its new President/CEO. The credit union’s long-time President/ CEO, Richard A Mantey, has retired after 25-years.

Querbes is a veteran in the financial industry, who brings 45-years of experience to the credit union. Prior to joining Ulster Federal Credit Union as Chief Operations Officer in 2005, Querbes held the position of Human Resources Consultant for the New York State Credit Union League, was the Senior Vice President/ Human Resource Director of Sales and Administra­tion for Central National Bank, and also worked for Albany Savings Bank and City and County Savings Bank, both located in Albany, NY.

Querbes earned a bachelor’s degree in business administra­tion from Fredonia State University in 1975, a master’s degree in labor and policy relations from Empire State University in 1994, and has a certificat­e from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY from The SHRM Learning System.

Bill currently resides in Clifton Park with his wife Christine and spends his time with his four children and seven grandchild­ren.
