Baseball in American culture focus of talk
WHAT: Talk, “Baseball in the American Culture” WHEN: Tuesday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. WHERE: East Fishkill Community Library, 348 state Route 376, Hopewell Junction
DETAILS: Evan Weiner, a television, radio and print journalist will give a talk titled “Baseball in the American Culture.” He will present a lively look through literature, songs, movies, the stage, radio and television. He has given talks for many years concerning the effect of media and entertainment on society. In 2007, the State Department sent him to talk to foreign nationals at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, to speak about the politics of sports business in America. The lecture is free and open to the public. Space is limited, however, so reservations are suggested.

Percussionist Evans performs at Quinn’s
WHAT: Concert WHEN: Thursday, April 23, at 9 p.m.
WHERE: Quinn’s, 330 Main St., Beacon.
DETAILS: Percussionist Matt Evans will give a solo multi-instrumental (drums/ small percussion instruments/sampler) performance. He is a percussionist and composer with an enormous affinity for process, patterns, autonomy and abstraction. He frequently works in cross-disciplinary contexts, playing in bands, performing with new music ensembles, and producing performances that integrate music, movement and visual art. A $10 donation towards the artist will be requested.
