City Hall reopens to public June 22
KINGSTON, N.Y. » City Hall and other Kingston government buildings will reopen to the public June 22, through with a sign-in process and mandatory health screenings, Mayor Steve Noble announced Thursday.
Access to city buildings has been restricted and many city employees have been working remotely since March 13, when Noble declared a state of emergency for Kingston because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mid-Hudson Region, which includes Ulster County, entered Phase 2 of the state’s COVID-related reopening process on Tuesday. One element of Phase 2 is increased face-to-face services in government buildings.
The city of Kingston “has been preparing to reopen by following rigorous guidelines from state and county health departments to help combat the spread of COVID-19,” Noble said in a press release.
He said steps that have been taken in city buildings include “installing physical barriers, such as plexiglass windows in offices; installing hand sanitizers throughout the buildings; posting instructive signage; and requiring mandatory employee self-screenings.”
City Hall and other Kingston municipal buildings will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays starting June 22.
Members of the public wishing to visit City Hall, the Department of Public Works, Department of Parks and Recreation, or Department of Building and Safety will be required to check in first at City Hall, 420 Broadway. An administrator there will check visitors’ temperatures with a contactless thermometer, ask a series of health questions, and record which offices are being visited.
The check-in station will be at the ground-level entrance to City Hall, on the right side of the building, facing HealthAlliance Hospital.
