What has happened to my Republican Party?

Dear Editor,

As I began this letter, my pen was so hot I couldn’t put it down. What happened to my GOP and my country?

As we slog our way through this pandemic and other major issues placing our nation at serious if not mortal risk, what happened to our leaders? The only answer I get is, “Wait ‘til Mary Trump’s ‘tell all’ book is printed.”

Why is this writing so important? It is the revelation of a dangerous president. Those words may strike fear in our hearts.

Mary is the niece of Donald Trump. She is a 54-year-old, a clinical psychologist who, as a member of the Trump family, has experienced first-hand the psychotic nature and demeanor of her uncle. His narcissism, ego and lack of empathy toward anyone are disabling, dividing and isolating.

My lost party, the party of Lincoln and Reagan, was an ideology worth protecting and expanding. But that protection has become a burden. One major concern is that a party in disarray, with a silence never seen before, is lost.

GOP Congress has been enabling

Trump to the point of being complicit. The GOP Congress is like the Roman Pretorian Guard, genuflecting in the presence of their Emperor Caligula.

Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation “freed” the Negro slaves during that time. Reagan’s “shining city upon a hill” was intended to make America great again, a slogan stolen by Trump. We may never recover!
