College earns accolades in magazine’s rankings
SUNY New Paltz has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report on its latest annual lists of Best Value Schools, Best Colleges for Veterans, Best Undergraduate Teaching, and Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
Overall, New Paltz ranked 45th among all nondoctoral public and private colleges in the Northeast, the second-highest ranking among SUNY schools, according to the magazine.
In total, New Paltz was recognized in 11 categories, including three regarding graduate programs.
The college was ranked as having one of the 15 best master of fine arts programs in New York state and also was listed as having one of the best speechlanguage pathology programs in the nation and best graduate-level business schools in the nation.
“New Paltz is proud of its ranking among its peers and competitors and appreciates neutral, third-party endorsement rankings like this,” L. David Eaton, the
college’s vice president for enrollment management, said in a prepared statement.
U.S. News & World Report evaluated 1,452 colleges and universities this year, based on publicly available data and surveys about such indicators as first-year student retention, graduation rates and reputational factors, according to a press release about the rankings.
Among other things, SUNY New Paltz was ranked as:
• 21st best in the Northeast for veterans.
• 22nd best in the Northeast for undergraduate teaching.
• 60th best in the Northeast for social mobility.
• 68th best in the Northeast for best value.
