Ulster reports 5 new positive cases

KINGSTON, N.Y. » Ulster County reported Friday five more positive cases of COVID-19.

The five additional cases bring the total since March to 2,254. There have been 95 fatalities.

Three residents of Ulster and Dutchess counties combined died of COVID-19 this week. The 95th Ulster County death was reported on Wednesday. The 156th Dutchess County death was reported on Thursday.

There were no deaths reported in either county reported on Friday.

Until Wednesday, the last reported death from COVID in Ulster County had been in the third week of August. Dutchess’ last death attributed to the virus had been on Sept. 5.

According to the Dutchess County COVID-19 online dashboard, there are a total of 5,042 positive cases.

On its online COVID-19 dashboard Friday, Ulster County reported 141 active cases of COVID-19, up from 135 reported on Thursday.

Dutchess County reported online Friday that it had 125 active cases of the virus.

SUNY New Paltz reported one additional active case of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total of active cases to four. The school reported 13 cases among students who have been on campus since the fall semester began Aug. 24, and four cases among students living in the county who have reported a positive test to the college.

There were no new active cases reported on Friday.
