New Paltz teams affected by schedule change

The SUNY Athletic Conference has moved all men’s and women’s basketball games in the conference to February.

NEW versity PALTZ, of New N.Y. York » The Athletic State Con- Uniference, eyeing a winter that will be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, has announced a revised men’s and women’s basketball schedule that will have all conference games played in February.

The teams, which include SUNY New Paltz, will play an eight- game divisional homeand-home format. The Hawks will be in the East Division with the SUNY colleges in Oneonta, Cortland, Plattsburg­h and Potsdam. New Paltz’s teams will play doublehead­ers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

New Paltz will start the SUNYAC season on the road in Cortland Feb. 1, then host Plattsburg­h and Oneonta in a two-game homestand on Feb. 3 and 6, respective­ly.

The Hawks are to be at Cortland Feb. 8 before heading to Oneonta Feb. 13 and Plattsburg­h Feb. 15. New Paltz ends the regular season in the Hawk Center, facing Potsdam Feb. 17 and Cortland Feb. 20.

Last season, SUNYAC basketball play began in early Decem-ber.

his year’s conference postseason will be a four-team crossover with the top two teams from each division. The semifinals are scheduled for Feb. 25, and the championsh­ip for Feb. 28.

SUNY New Paltz has yet to release the remainder of its winter sports schedules.
