KINGSTON- Michael A. Spada, Jr., 78, of Van Gaasbeck Street Kingston, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. Born on June 16, 1942 in Kingston, N.Y. He is the son of Michael G. Spada, Sr., and Betty E. (Yonta) Spada. Michael was a graduate of Kingston High School where he excelled at his passion, basesball, as a member of the Kingston Tigers. He was drafted by the New York Yankee’s Organizati­on, he Auburn Yankees as a pitcher in 1962. Following his baseball career, Michael continued on his journey in the community he was passionate about as an entreprene­ur. He was the owner of one of the rst pool halls in Kingston, known as the Billiard Room and the co-owner of the popular night spot and catering facility for many, the Walnut Grove, with his former wife Theresa and parents. In 1980, Michael began a second career in retail, expanding on an already Broadway icon known as Sav-On Stores, serving all of our local, out of town caterers and citizens in the preparatio­n for all of their party needs. A Commercial Real Estate Developer and Owner and Operator of Spada Trucking, Inc. Michael was a member of the Teamsters Union Local # 445, Kingston Model Railroad Club, an avid New York Yankee fan, and loved a good political debate. Michael is survived by his children: Diana L. Spada, Yvonne Herrington and her husband Scott, Lisa Bruck and her late husband John F. Bruck, Lori Spada-Redding and her husband Bob along with his son, Michael G. Spada, III, and his wife Angela. He is further survived by his sister, Donna Marie Spada, former Wife, Theresa M. Spada; step daughter, Courtney Hogan; special friend, Trudi Daddio; and grandchild­ren: Taylor John Bruck and his wife Jillian, Chelsea Becker and her husband Sean, Alexandria Spada, Charles Herrington, Marley Spada, Olivia Redding, Christophe­r Redding, and Ashley Williams. Many Aunts, Uncles and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he is predecease­d by his maternal grandparen­ts, Dominic and Rose Yonta; paternal grandparen­ts, Dominic and Philomenia Spada; longtime companion, June Hogan; and several aunts and uncles. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home Monday 8:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church at 9:45 a.m. Face coverings are required and may limit the capacity at the funeral home and church. Entombment will follow at Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum. Expression of sympathy in lieu of owers may be made in the form of contributi­ons to Make America Great Again (MAGA) 2024 or Trump 2024.
