MARY ANN ROBINSON

TOWN OF NEWBURGHMary Ann Robinson, age 80, of the Town of Newburgh passed peacefully at St. Luke’s Monteore Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Robinson, her children Ann Marie Delessio (Joseph), Cheryl Arnes (Brad), John Robinson (Rebecca), son-in-law Tom Davis and ten lovely grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Tyler, Lindsay, Shaun, Joshua, Meaghan, Henry, Delaney, Audrey, Shea, Adeline, Easton, Harrison and Evelynn. Along with her sister Marie Bilyou and brothers Peter Jr. and James Leahy. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her loving Parents Peter Paul and Almira (Joy) Leahy, caring daughter Patricia Robinson Davis and Brother-in-law Clarence Bilyou. Married to her high school sweetheart, William J. Robinson, on Feb. 11, 1962, at St. Joseph’s Church, Kingston, N.Y. Mary Ann retired from the Newburgh School District after serving 20+ years as a teacher’s aide where her caring and thoughtful nature helped to guide many children as she did for her own. Still recognized today by generations of students and parents that had the opportunity to engage her through the many years at Gardnertown school. Always being thoughtful in her caring ways, Mary Ann held volunteer positions with the Girl Scouts, PTA ofcer/president, supporting Boy Scouts and an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. Mary Ann would open her home for everyone, ensuring a meal was available for all. Especially known for her homemade cookies and pies that were always bountiful for every gathering. The Christmas tradition of hosting for 58 years was the centerpiece of the plentiful display of meal and treats that could only be matched by abundant size of her heart. Family was always at Mary Ann’s heart, specically memorable were the family vacations. From the Great Smokey mountains to the beaches of New Jersey and North Carolina, her joy of family and visiting always bought joy to her and those of her family. As she did for so many things in her family, navigating the trips or navigating our lives, she was always up to the task. Mary Ann always enjoyed the verbal jousting (giving as good as she got) and recollection of memory lane with her siblings. As the family grew and life circumstances moved members away, Mary Ann provided the guidance and was the glue that made sure that bond of family was never broken, but thrived and is a legacy that will continue. Mary Ann always followed her faith as a member of St. Patrick’s Parish where she received her three sacraments after many years of guiding her children through the formation of the Catholic faith. Always proud of her Irish heritage, traditions and the art of passing them down through the generations. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan, 20, 2021, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, with burial following in Mt. Marion Cemetery, Saugerties. In lieu of sending owers, donations would be appreciated to Susan G.
