Delisio, Saunders excel at sectional championships
The Kingston High senior and New Paltz junior are standouts at a virtual Section 9 meet
KINGSTON, N.Y. » Kingston High’s Mason Delisio and Brady Saunders of New Paltz led local athletes Saturday in a virtual version of the Section 9 boys swim and diving championships.
Delisio, a senior, placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.72 seconds and took third in the 50 free with a 22.54.
Saunders, a junior, also had a strong day in the freestyle sprints. He was runner-up in the 50 (22.53) and fourth (49.90) in the 100.
Also faring well for Kingston was Drew Sammons, who was fifth (1:04) in the breaststroke, and Adam Murphy, who took ninth (1:01.60) in the butterfly.
New Paltz’s 200 free relay of William D’Angelo, Logan Pece and Alex Demis with Saunders swimming anchor was second with a 1:34.39.
