PORT EWEN- Francis J. O’Donnell, age 93 died at Ten Broeck Center of natural causes. He was born March 31, 1927 to the late Patrick and Marion (Wouters) O’Donnell in Port Ewen, N.Y. He married Virginia Rosenkrans­e on Sept. 26, 1949 and they celebrated 71 years of marriage. Frank was a World War II Navy Veteran, and a VFW member. Except for his Navy years, he had always resided in Port Ewen, N.Y. He served on several supply ships in both the Atlantic and Pacic Theaters. He then made his career as a Tool Maker for 35 years at Poughkeeps­ie and Kingston IBM. Frank with his family enjoyed many seasonal sports. Both in the mountains and on the Hudson River. He and his family had several cross-country trips involving all 50 states. He was active in local activities serving as a member of the Esopus Waterfront Board and a volunteer in building the boat launch at Sleightsbu­rg. He was also a member of Hidden Harbor Yacht Club for over 58 years. With other early members, he planned and built the buildings and harbor at Port Ewen. He was predecease­d by his grandson, Gregory Zenzel; his son-in-law, David Zenzel; his sisters, Marie Kelekian and Dolores McClary; and his brothers, John and Michael O’Donnell. Frank is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughters, Susan (Joseph) Leiching and Michelle Zenzel; his sons, Patrick (Kathy) O’Donnell and Timothy (Linda) O’Donnell; and his sisters, Patricia Groppuso and Nancy O’Donnell. Also surviving are his fabulous remarkable grandchild­ren: David (Paula) Leiching, Timothy (Krissy) Leiching, Elisabeth (Jonathan) Hedges, Maureen Cassady, Aileen (Timothy) Lane, Kevin (Theresa) O’Donnell,MD, Deborah (William) Haag and Jeffrey Zenzel. He will be missed by his 18 great-grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews. Frank was well loved and lived a wonderful life.
