RHINEBECK- Charles F. Dionysius born Aug. 11, 1939 to Charles and Nora Dionysius, left this world peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 5, 2021. Charlie retired from Prudential Insurance in 1994 and retired from Daytop Village in 2010. He also worked for the Wiltse Brothers in Poughkeeps­ie. His most recent employment was at Tops Market in Rhinebeck, N.Y.; a job he thrived and enjoyed immensely as “The Greeter” for the past months. He was a former member of Harris Smith Post, the American Legion of Rhinebeck, and the Odd Fellow Lodge in Red Hook. Charlie is survived by his daughter, Tracey Ferreri (Christophe­r Ferreri) of Amenia, N.Y.; son, David Dionysius (Vanessa Dionysius) of Bellingham, Wash.; Lisa Szatko (John Szatko) of Rhinebeck, N.Y.; Curtis Vellie of Rhinebeck, N.Y.; Scott Vellie of Albany, N.Y.; brother, George Dionysius of Ephrata, Pa.; his beloved grandchild­ren, Marina, Nicholas, Desiree, Tara, Shane, Travis, and Kevin; as well as two greatgrand­children with another one on the way; and his companion Leslie Lloyd of Rhinebeck. He was predecease­d by his wife, Kathleen “Kitty” Dionysius on the same date, March 5, two years ago. His last two years were spent at the Village Green Apartments in Rhinebeck, N.Y., where he made many beautiful friendship­s that he cherished. Special thanks to his doctors Amy Cocina and Radik Rochamala and staff who always enjoyed his visits, and to Dutchess County Hospice. There are no calling hours. Services are private and at the convenienc­e of the family. Arrangemen­ts under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, Rhinebeck, N.Y.
