Consultants sought for stadium project
The work will make green infrastructure improvements to the parking areas throughout the Dietz complex
KINGSTON, N.Y. » The city is seeking a consultant to provide contractual services as part of a project aimed at improving the parking lot area around Dietz Stadium.
Kingston’s Office of Grants Management is seeking proposals from qualified firms or individuals with “proven experience in site reconnaissance, design, engineering, permitting, bid document preparation, and construction inspection” to provide contractual services for the city’s Dietz Stadium Parking Lots Green Infrastructure Improvements Project, according to provided information. Proposals are due to the city no later than 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 8.
Last April, city aldermen adopted a series of resolutions authorizing Mayor Steve Noble to execute any and all documents necessary to take advantage of a $1.5 million Green Infrastructure Grant Program award from the state Environmental Facilities Corporation. Along with that, aldermen authorized the city to utilize part of a separate $1 million grant from the state Department of Environmental Conservation
to match the Green Infrastructure Grant Program funding.
The $2.5 million in grant funding is to be used for green infrastructure improvements to the parking areas throughout the Dietz complex. Of the smaller
grant, $166,667 would be used as matching funds for the Green Infrastructure Grant Program funding.
Officials have said the grant funding would enable the city to rehabilitate and repave the parking lot around Dietz Stadium using “green,” or environmentally safe, practices.
According to the city’s request for proposals, the installation of approximately
41,000 square feet of porous pavement and 12,000 square feet of bioretention would help improve onsite drainage and the water quality of the nearby Esopus Creek.
The city’s request for proposals from qualified consultants can be found online at the New York State Contract Reporter site at www.nyscr.ny.gov, or on the Empire State Purchasing
Group site at www.bidnetdirect.com/new-york.
The grant funding for parking lot improvements is separate from, but related to, the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant awarded to the city by New York state. Of the DRI funding, $2.5 million was set aside to modernize and enhance the 2,000-seat stadium and adjacent Andretta Pool.
