Onteora starts season with overtime victory

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. » Onteora scored twice in overtime Friday to pull out a 4-2 opening-day triumph over Spackenkill in MidHudson Athletic League girls soccer.
Amalie Ingalsbe snapped a 2-2 tie in OT by converting a penalty kick for Onteora.
Charlotte Barry had a pair of goals, both assisted by Darrah Allison, for the Eagles. Allison had an unassisted goal.
Maddy Updike and Blythe McQuade each had a goal and Hanna McSpedon added an assist to pace Spackenkill.
Onteora goalkeeper Ava Lamb had 12 saves, while the Spartans’ Clare Sottile made six.
Roosevelt 1, New Paltz 0
At Hyde Park, Camryn Tarkos’ goal off Erin Drickel’s pass was the difference in a close victory for Roosevelt.
Cali DeLawder and Natalie Ontiveros combined for nine saves to collaborate on the shutout for the Presidents. New Paltz keeper Vivian Kay stopped three shots.
Red Hook 4, Saugerties 0
At Red Hook, Casey Shein, Kelcie Horst and Grace Hennig all scored in an eight-minute span late in the first half to lift the Raiders to its season-opening win.
Horst had an assist and Ani Safaryan had two, including one to set up Kai Diener’s second-half tally.
Morgan Tompkins and Makenzi Grant each played a half in goal for Red Hook, combining for one save in the shutout. Gabriella DeSantis and Helen Kerr each played a half as goalie for Saugerties, combining on seven saves.
Saugerties is 0-2 on the year.
