PORT EWEN-Jerome “Jerry” Saunders, 56, of Broadway, Port Ewen, NY, found peace and passed on to eternal life on Sunday morning, March 7th, 2021, at HealthAlli­ance Hospital, Broadway Campus after a long illness. He was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. on Sept. 11th, 1964, and was raised by his foster parents, Grace and Charles Robinson of Sleightsbu­rgh, N.Y., who both predecease­d him. He is survived by his twin brother, Antonio Saunders of Albany, N.Y., his daughters, Jasmine and Princess (Betty), his foster brother, Terrance McCoy of Brooklyn, N.Y., other members of his foster family, as well as many devoted and loving, lifelong friends. Jerry attended Kingston High School and his proudest moment was when her performed at the 1984 May Day celebratio­n. He was a selftaught musician and was happiest when playing his guitar and performing with and for dear friends. Despite many challenges and traumas he faced throughout his lifetime, Jerry forgave, uplifted, cheered, and shared his gift and love of music with all he came into contact with. He gave his caring and trust freely, and drew people to him with his smile, charm and sense of humor. He suffered for many years with debilitati­ng MS, but held on to his positive spirit and desire to enjoy his relationsh­ips with his dear friends and family until the very end of his life. Thanks to the many friends and caregivers who provided their love and support. The Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, is entrusted with Jerry’s care and arrangemen­ts.
