Undefeated Red Hook blanks Wallkill

Grace Hennig’s second-half goal was the difference Monday as undefeated Red Hook defeated a tough Wallkill High squad 1-0 in Mid-Hudson Athletic League girls soccer action.

Hennig scored on a header off Tessa Husted’s corner kick 11 minutes into the second half.

“We had a couple of very good looks in the first half playing with a strong wind at our backs but could not convert,” Red Hook coach Jason Pavlich said. “We played more intelligen­tly in the second half against the wind and were rewarded with a beautiful goal on a set piece. From there the defense held firm and we came away with the win.”

Morgan Tompkins made two saves to earn the shutout for the (70) Raiders. Nora Serrao and Madelyn Jachimiak each played a half in goal for (3-1-3) Wallkill, combining for five saves to keep the match tight.

New Paltz 3, Saugerties 0

At Saugerties, Kalle Masseo, Fiona O’Hara and Aracely Watson all scored to lead (3-2-1) New Paltz. Ruby Santos earned the shutout, stopping five shots.

Goalkeeper Helene Kerr had 10 saves for (2-5) Saugerties.

Millbrook 4, Webutuck 0

At North East, Kaleigh Tompkins had a goal and two assists, Elleeana Francia, Emily Grasseler and Hudson Heitmann also scored and Samantha Erdt added an assist to lead unbeaten (5-0) Millbrook.

Blazers goalie Ella Wilson made three saves to get the shutout. Webutuck keeper Grainne Williams had six saves.

Spackenkil­l 5, Pine Plains 1

At Pine Plains, Maddy Updike had a hat trick and Julia Gill and Kara Kilpert also scored to lead Spackenkil­l, which pulled away in the second half. Sophia Maslyn had two assists, while Hanna McSpedon and Blythe McQuade had one each.

Tessa Blackburn had the goal for Pine Plains.

Clare Sottile and Bailey O’Gorman each had two saves in goal for the Spartans. The Bombers’ Britney Mercado stopped seven shots.
