Ellenville rallies to beat Pine Plains

PINE PLAINS, N.Y. » Ellenville High’s girls rallied to defeat Pine Plains 3-1 in Mid-Hudson Athletic League soccer Wednesday, April 7.

Kelsey Atkinson gave (18-1) Pine Plains the early lead, but the Lady Devils scored twice before halftime to take the lead.

Janeliz Pellot-Hilerio connected on a 15-blast off a Jessica McHugh pass to tie at the 29th minute.

Sydney Franza scored the first of her two goals to put (5-1 MHAL, 5-2-1 overall) Ellenville ahead just two minutes before the intermissi­on. She put a low shot into the corner on a breakaway off a through pass from Gabriela Castro. Early in the second half, Franza took an Isabella Franza pass and scored on a half-volley over the goalie from 20 yards out.

Gabby Hind made four saves in goal for Ellenville. Keeper Sarah Leach had six saves for the Bombers.

Ellenville is at James I. O’Neill for a non-league match on Friday, April 9, while Pine Plains next plays at Rhinebeck on Saturday,

April 10. Webutuck 1, Onteora 1

At Boiceville, Onteora and Webutuck played to a 1-1 tie in a tight battle that was scoreless through regulation.

The Eagles scored in the first overtime as Analie Ingalsbe converted Achaia

Gindele’s assist. Webutuck got the equalizer in the second OT as JoAnna Voigt scored off Olivia Farnham’s pass.

Ava Lamb had a pair of saves in goal for Onteora. Webutuck’s Grainne Williams had 10 saves, including three that kept the Warriors in the match.
