EAST KINGSTON-Eva T. (Gardecki) Clausi, 93, lifelong resident of East Kingston, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on April 7, 2021. Born August 16, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Steven and Helen (Palen) Gardecki. A member of St. Colman’s Roman Catholic Church from birth, Eva was a person of great faith who treated everyone with kindness and respect. She was a founding member and secretary of the St. Colman’s Altar and Rosary Society. Eva was a longtime volunteer for St. Colman’s, typing the weekly bulletin and assisting with bookkeepin­g. She also was an active member of PTA during her children’s school years. Eva was kind, warm and welcoming to all, whether friend or relative. The coffee pot was always on and the door was always open. An avid New York Yankees fan, she loved talking with her kids and grandkids about the games. She could often be found outside tending to her ower and vegetable gardens. Spending time with her family was one of Eva’s greatest joys. Eva married Patrick A. Clausi in 1947. They were married for 63 years at the time of Patrick’s death in 2009. Eva graduated from Kingston High School in 1944 at the age of 16. She worked for many years at the blouse and dress factory in East Kingston. She used her seamstress skills making, altering, and repairing clothes for her children and relatives and making uniforms for her daughters and other twirlers. Eva also worked for the Kingston School District’s central kitchen until her retirement. Eva is survived by one son, Peter and his wife Betty of Kingston, three daughters, Patricia Clausi and her husband Thomas Cianecetta of Glenville, N.Y., Mary Rausch and her husband Neil of Lake Katrine, and Antionette (Toni) Clausi Dudley and her husband Jerry of North Port Richey, Fla.; eight grandchild­ren, Patrick Clausi (Nicole), Michael Ciancetta, Nicholas Cianetta (Ariane Miyasaki), Maria Ciancetta (James Judge), Lauren Rausch, Nicole Rausch, Erin Verran (Jacob) and Sarah Dudley, six great-grandchild­ren, and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Helen Mickle (Don), Rosemary Gardecki; brothers, Anthony Gardecki (Coral) and Frank Gardecki (Doris); sisters-in-law, Louise Gardecki, Frances Clausi and Priscilla Clausi and brother-in-law Thomas Sottile. Eva is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Eva was predecease­d by sisters, Marie DeLuca, Dolores Gibbons and Patricia Sottile and brother Stanley Gardecki. Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston. www.jvleahyfh.com Eva’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Face coverings and social distancing is required which may limit the capacity of the funeral home and the churck. The funeral procession will form 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. at Saint Colman Church. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
