COTTEKILL- Dolores Doyle passed away peacefully at Kingston Hospital on Tuesday, June 29th. Born July 25, 1929 at Benedictin­e Hospital in Kingston, N.Y. She settled first and spent most of her life in Cottekill, N.Y., where she raised her surviving sons, Douglas and Dennis. Dolores became a caregiver early on as the eldest of seven children of Alice Marsden and Percy Gaddis of Ruby, N.Y. She is predecease­d by all six of her brothers and sisters: Billy Joe Gaddis, Fran Cross, Marilyn Gaddis, Carolyn Buschman, Donald Gaddis and Lorraine Gaddis and her husband of 58 years, Donald Doyle, who passed away in 2006. As a young mother, she decided that a career was in order and attended Richard 1 st Beauty School and worked into her 80’s as a beautician and hairdresse­r in the Kingston area. An excellent athlete at Kingston High, in her older years Dolores became an avid walker to stay in shape. A people person at heart, she could start conversati­ons and make friends with whoever she met. She also loved to garden and fuss about the kitchen. She gave wholeheart­edly to various charities and churches including St. Peters in Rosendale and St. Joseph’s in Kingston. She loved to travel with her son Douglas, his wife Cynthia, and especially her grandchild­ren, Lucas Doyle and Albert Doyle and accompanie­d them to many places including Alaska and Florida. Her sunny dispositio­n, generous spirit, and blue-eyed smile will remain in our hearts forever. Arrangemen­ts entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, N.Y. The service will be private with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
