KINGSTON, N.Y. » A homeless city man wanted in domestic violence cases was arrested after leading police on a foot chase through woods in Downtown Kingston early Wednesday, police said.

The Kingston Police Department said officers went to a home in the Delaware Avenue area about 7:55 a.m. to investigate a report of domestic violence. When they arrived, Isaiah Fletcher, 25, “a wanted felon with warrant charges from previous incidents of domestic violence,” fled out the back door and led the officers on a chase through nearby woods, the department said on its Facebook page.

Fletcher remained on foot in the wooded area surrounded by Third Avenue, Delaware Avenue, North Street and the Hutton Brickyards site for over an hour until officers arrested him without further incident about 9:10 a.m. on Kingston Street.

He was charged with numerous felony counts of aggravated family offense and criminal contempt, as well as resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and was being held for arraignment in Kingston City Court, according to police Lt. John

Tremper said.

Tremper said investigators were “still counting” the number of felony charges they ultimately would file against Fletcher. He said there will be at least two counts of each charge, along with possibly “another pair from one we’re seeking him on.”

Tremper said all of the alleged domestic violence incidents involve the same victim.

Kingston police were assisted in their pursuit of Fletcher by members and resources from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and state police.
