2022 Honda Civic is commuter crazy
When the best is the best, why choose the rest?
No history lesson is needed when talking about commuter or entry-level vehicles. Honda has the market cornered and is leap years ahead of the competition with its Civic. In 2022, there’s been a huge change to the Civic, all for the better, of course! It has a newly designed body style, upscale interior, many standard features and an overall great ride.
Starting out with a 1.5-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the Civic produces 180 horsepower. Aligned with a quiet continuously variable transmission, the Civic has certainly grown up from its consumer-recognized commuter car to what I like to call upscale commuter.
On the inside, we notice a redesigned metal honeycomb-shaped panel for ventilation and audio making the interior clean and neat.
The three- knob climate control system is still present with large knobs and simplistic while the protruding infotainment system is user-friendly and quick. The seats in our Morning Mist Civic Touring model were very comfortable and you can tell that Honda took ample time in making sure these were just right for all drivers, especially those high-mileage drivers needing the most comfort they could get. The all-new 10.2-inch full-color HD LCD driver panel was awesome. This was the nicest driver display panel I have seen in a while. Even without a heads-up display, I still felt very engaged in the cluster. A 12-speaker Bose stereo system was new to the 2022 Civic as well and was quite nice for the historic no-frills, no-thrills type vehicle.
On our weeklong test, we noticed a significant improvement in suspension as the ride was overall a great experience. With the longest wheelbase in its class at 107.7 inches, steering and stability were really a pleasure to enjoy. Additionally, with sport mode now being standard, the 2022 Honda Civic Touring was really quick on its feet and had a lot of pep in its step. As with all of Honda’s sedans, Honda Sensing is standard with features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist to name a few.
Eight colors are available for the Civic with four different trim options. Pricing begins at $21,700 for the base LX model. When it comes to commuter cars, first cars, or long-lasting, low-cost maintenance vehicles, there really is only one choice. Honda, well done on another fantastically crafted automobile that all levels of consumers can enjoy.
