Active cases down in Ulster County for third day in a row

KINGSTON, N.Y. » Active COVID-19 cases dropped for the third day in a row this week in Ulster County while Dutchess reported an increase in cases, according to government online coronaviru­s dashboards.

Hospitaliz­ations in the region are down by one at 41 patients in Ulster and Dutchess medical facilities as of Wednesday, May 18.

Ulster County reported Friday that it had 482 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday, May 19, or 22 fewer than the 504 reported on Wednesday, May 18.

Ulster’s lowest caseload number this year was reported on March 7, when active cases were at 77.

The highest was on Jan.15, when the active COVID-19 case count was at 7,569.

Ulster County reported Friday no additional COVID deaths, leaving the pandemic total at 378 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The county reported Friday that it has had a total of 42,300 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 41,440 recoveries.

Dutchess County reported Friday that it had 793 active COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, May 18, or 23 more than what was reported on Tuesday, May 17.

Dutchess County reported no COVID-19-related deaths as of May 16, leaving total deaths at 659 since the outset of the pandemic in March 2020.

Dutchess has recorded a total of 67,948 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
