Active cases decline in Dutchess
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. » COVID-19 cases edged down in Dutchess County for the second straight day Saturday as area hospitalizations also fell.
Dutchess County reported it had 631 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday, May 26, down 32 from the 663 cases reported on Wednesday. That was down 25 from the 688 reported on Tuesday.
Hospitalizations in Dutchess and Ulster counties fell by six to 38 as of Thursday, May 26. Thirty of those hospitalizations were in Dutchess County with eight in Ulster.
Dutchess County reported no additional COVID-19 deaths, leaving the total at 661 since the pandemic’s start in March 2020.
Dutchess County has recorded a total of 68,946 COVID-19 cases since the outset of the pandemic.
Ulster County did not update it’s COVD-19 statistics Saturday. On Friday, the county reported it had 290 active COVID-19 cases on Thursday, or 12 fewer than the 302 reported on Wednesday.
The county reported one new death related to COVID-19, Friday bringing the county’s total since the pandemic began to 381.
Ulster County said Friday it has had 42,840 confirmed cases with 42,169 recoveries. Active cases reported in both counties do not necessarily reflect all of the positive or negative test results from home test kits.
