• Sam’s Point Preserve nature bingo takes place July 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting from the Sam’s Point Visitor’s Center. Participants will hike around trying to find the unique landmarks, plants, and animals found throughout the Park Preserve in this program for all ages. • Minnewaska Park Educator Nick Martin leads a bird walk starting at the Gardiner Library’s at 8 a.m. each Friday in July. Participants will take an approximately one-mile walk on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and wander through Majestic Park. Participants are encouraged to wear waterproof boots or shoes and bring binoculars and a birding field guide or field guide map. Attend one or all three programs. • The Good Work Institute is hosting “Resisting Erasure,” an exhibition featuring Poughkeepsiebased artist Shirley Parker-Benjamin and photographer Onaje Benjamin through Oct. 8. • Minnewaska Park Educator Nick Martin will lead volunteers to help maintain native plant gardens around the Lake Minnewaska Visitors Center during monthly volunteer work days starting July 1, from 11 a.m. to noon. Tasks include weeding, clipping shrubs, potting seedlings and more. Gardening experience is helpful, but not necessary. Volunteers bring work gloves, a sun hat, and clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty. The parking fee will be waived for those who pre-register. • The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase arrives at Bearsville Center, 277 — 297 Tinker Street, Woodstock, from Oct. 21-23. View fine, contemporary, handmade acoustic guitars and stringed musical instruments, exhibited by their creators in an intimate gathering of stringedinstrument builders, players, collectors and aficionados and enjoy continuous live music, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day of the event in The Bearsville Theater Lounge. Additional seminars, workshops and concerts by separate admission. General Admission is $25per day. A three-day pass is $60. Advance tickets through the Bearsville Theater box office go on sale in June.
• Cyclists can celebrate summer at the Kingston Food Coop’s Summer Party and get their bicycle checked over by volunteers from Bike Friendly Kingston Saturday, July 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Big Bubble Laundromat parking lot at 718 Broadway in Midtown Kingston. No advance registration required, but participants must sign in by 1:30p.m.. Bells, lights and bike helmets will be available at the event. The event is free, but donations are welcome. • The Hurley Heritage Society Museum at 52Main St, Hurley has opened for the season. View the ongoing exhibit “Winslow Homer in Hurley — an Artist’s View.” featuring reproductions of the paintings and illustrations Homer created during his visits to Hurley between 1870 and 1875. The exhibition features five new paintings this year. Museum hours are Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 to 4 p.m.
• Catskill Mountain Railroad’s Ice Cream Sundays train rides take place Sundays from through Sept. 18. Trains depart from the railroad’s Westbrook Lane Station in Kingston near the Hannaford Supermarket in Kingston Plaza at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for an approximately onehour ride. Tickets are
