Jacobson unopposed in 104th Assembly District
KINGSTON, N.Y. >> Incumbent state Assemblyman Jonathon Jacobson, who represents the 104th district, will face no challenge in the Tuesday, Nov. 8 election.
Early voting for the elections starts on Saturday, Oct. 29.
Jacobson, a Newburgh Democrat, was elected to the Assembly in November 2018.
The district includes the city and town of Newburgh in Orange County, the Poughkeepsie and Beacon in Dutchess County and the towns of Marlborough and Lloyd in Ulster County.
Before his election, Jacobson was an assistant state attorney general and headed the Consumer Frauds Bureau at the Poughkeepsie Regional Office.
Jacobson was later appointed as an assistant counsel to the Speaker of the New York State Assembly. He was assigned to the Labor Committee, where he researched and wrote legislation. Later on, Jacobson continued his public service career as a state workers’ compensation law judge.
In the early 1990s, Jacobson headed the Newburgh Charter Review Commission and wrote a proposed new charter for the city.
In 2017, he was elected a member of the Newburgh City Council.
His campaign page says Jacobson was part of a Democratic majority that got historic legislation passed.
“The Assembly passed laws bolstering and securing women’s reproductive health rights, protecting our communities with commonsense gun safety laws, and preserving our environment,” the page said. “Child abuse victims now have a new chance to seek justice in the courts. They also increased education aid and made the property tax cap permanent.”
Jacobson was appointed a member of the Election Law Committee and was chairman of the Sub-committee on Election Day Operations. He is also a member of the Cities, Insurance, Labor, Local Governments, and Transportation committees.
