• The Town of Ulster is holding a Trunk or Treat event at the town hall parking lot, 1 Town Hall Drive, Lake Katrine, on Saturday, Oct. 29 (rain date is Oct. 30), from

5 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. The event will feature Trick-or-treating, donuts and cider. To be a “trunk,” call the town clerk at (845) 3822455.

• Temple Israel of Catskill, 220 Spring

St., Catskill, will host an Autumn Art & Craft Fair on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair will feature paintings, photographs, woodcraft, jewelry, pottery, knitwear and housewares. There will also be a silent auction, raffles and a bake sale. Proceeds will benefit World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit that feeds refugees from Ukraine and other regions in crisis, and Temple Israel of Catskill.

• High Falls Food Coop, 1398 state Route 213, High Falls, will have a pumpkin-painting party with cider donuts and cider on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. Painting will take place under a tent in the co-op’s parking lot. In addition, Wightman Fruit Farm will be on hand with some fund and educational apple tasting. Admission is free with a canned good(s) donation. The store will be open for regular shopping with housemade hot soup, sandwiches, salads and all of its regular offerings.

• Kingston Kiwanis Kapers will be performed on Oct. 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the George Washington Elementary School, 67 Wall St., Kingston. Written and directed by Steve Klein, this year’s title is “More or Less Miserables.” Ticket prices for Thursday, Oct. 22 are $20, and $7 for seniors; and $20 on Oct. 21 and 22. Tickets may be purchased from any Kiwanis member or at the door.

• The Friends of Rhinebeck Cemetery’s living history tours return to Rhinebeck on Oct. 22 and 23. Theatre on the Road’s performers, wearing authentic costumes, will bring six spirits to life, each of whom contributed to Rhinebeck’s past. All tours start at 3 p.m. There will also be accessible tours at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Oct.

• Rochester Reformed Church, 5142 U.S. Route 209, Accord, will have a pulled pork dinner on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The cost is $15 and the format will be take out. Pick up will be available from 5 to 7 p.m.

• The Comforter of Kingston, 26 Wynkoop Place, Kingston, will host a meat lovers dinner on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. It will be a continuous buffet.

• Writer and producer Joe Baer will perform the one-man show “Samuel Clemens: Tales of Mark Twain” at the Hurley Reformed Church in Hurley on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. The performance chronicles eight decades of Samuel Clemen’s Life and includes passages from throughout his life. • Gardiner Library, 133 Farmer’s Turnpike, Gardiner, will host its second annual Haunted Library Event on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged. Masks are recommended. No registration is required. Follow the yellow brick road past the Emerald City for the very young. Take a spooky stroll through an underwater cave, past slithering snakes, encounter an alien invasion and lots more for all ages who like a fun scare and surprise. • The Sinterklaas clothes swap and Sinterstore benefit for Sinterklaas The Sinterklaas clothes swap and Sinterstore benefit is Sunday, Oct. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Old Buckeley Middle School Gym renamed Dutchess Shepard at the corner of Market and Mulberry streets in Rhinebeck. Swap up to 20 items including women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, handbags and shoes. All items should be in very good condition on hangers, please no t-shirts. Then shop the Sinterstore featuring designer clothes, accessories, gift jewelry and gift certifications and Sinterklaas’ own famous cashmeres. There will be a raffle Admission is via a $25 donation. Early drop-off is Oct. 22or bring your items the day of the event. Sinterklaas is set to be held Dec. 3.

• Soup sales will take place at the Rhinecliff Firehouse, 17 Shtazell Ave., Rhinecliff, on the third Thursday of the month — Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15 — from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Soup will be sold by the quart for $10 per quart. Only take-out orders will be available. Soup can be picked up at the firehouse side window on Orchard Street. The sales are sponsored by the Rhinebeck Grange. • The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase arrives at Bearsville Center, 277-297 Tinker St., Woodstock, from Oct. 21-23. View fine, contemporary, handmade acoustic guitars and stringed musical instruments, exhibited by their creators in an intimate gathering of stringed-instrument builders, players, collectors and aficionados and enjoy continuous live music, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day of the event in The Bearsville Theater Lounge. • The Hurley Library presents “Samuel Clemens: Tales of Mark Twain,” a two-act play that tells the story of the iconic author on Sunday, Oct. 23, at

2 p.m. at the Hurley Reformed Church, 11 Main St., Hurley. The 100-minute play, featuring actor Joe Baer as Samuel Clemons, traces nearly eight decades of the famed author and lecturer’s life. Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. A speaker will be announced at a later date. A food drive seeking canned goods and other non-perishable items to benefit Saugerties-area food pantries will also be held. Admission is $10 for Friends members and $12 for non-members. Membership applications will be available.

• The Hurley Heritage Society Museum at 52 Main St., Hurley, has opened for the season. View the ongoing exhibit “Winslow Homer in Hurley — an Artist’s View.” featuring reproductions of the paintings and illustrations Homer created during his visits to Hurley between 1870 and 1875. The exhibition features five new paintings this year. Museum hours are Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 to 4 p.m.

• Thomas Cole National Historic Site’s exhibition “Thomas Cole’s Studio: Memory and Inspiration” is set to run through Oct. 20, 2022, at the site, 218 Spring St., Catskill.
