• The Catskill Mountain Railroad’s Pumpkin Express Trains offer riders a chance to pick out a pumpkin as they ride the rails of the Ulster & Delaware Railroad on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29 and 30. The pumpkins will be spread out on the flat cars and passengers can select one to take home and decorate. The round trip lasts approximat­ely 75 minutes. Trains depart the railroad’s Westbrook Station at 55 Kingston Plaza Road at 10 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. each day. Tickets are $20 for adults, $19, for seniors, military and veterans; $14 for children ages 2-12; and free for toddlers under 2. • The Hudson Wednesday Market returns to the 7th Street Park on Warren Street, Hudson, each Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. through Oct. 26. The grassroots farmers market features a diverse group of vendors. • NY StateWide Senior Action Council will host HealthAlli­ance of the Hudson Valley Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Doyle on Oct. 27 from 1-3 p.m. at the Senior Hub at 1003 Developmen­t Court in the town of Ulster. Doyle will provide updates on HealthAlli­ance during this free talk. Light refreshmen­ts will be served. • The Town of Ulster is holding a Trunk or Treat event at the town hall parking lot, 1 Town Hall Drive, Lake Katrine, on Saturday, Oct. 29 (rain date is Oct. 30), from 5 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. The event will feature Trick-ortreating, donuts and cider. To be a “trunk,” call the town clerk at (845) 382-2455.

• High Falls Food Co-op, 1398 state Route 213, High Falls, will have a pumpkinpai­nting party with cider donuts and cider on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. Painting will take place under a tent in the co-op’s parking lot. In addition, Wightman Fruit Farm will be on hand with some fund and educationa­l apple tasting. Admission is free with a canned good(s) donation. The store will be open for regular shopping with housemade hot soup, sandwiches, salads and all of its regular offerings.

• Gardiner Library, 133 Farmer’s Turnpike, Gardiner, will host its second annual Haunted Library Event on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged. Masks are recommende­d. No registrati­on is required. Follow the yellow brick road past the Emerald City for the very young. Take a spooky stroll through an underwater cave, past slithering snakes, encounter an alien invasion and lots more for all ages who like a fun scare and surprise. Treats

• Rochester Reformed Church, 5142 U.S. Route 209, Accord, will have a pulled pork dinner on Saturday, Nov.

• Soup sales will take place at the Rhinecliff Firehouse, 17 Shtazell Ave., Rhinecliff, on the third Thursday of the month — Nov. 17 and Dec. 15 — from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Soup will be sold by the quart for $10per quart. Only take-out orders will be available. Soup can be picked up at the firehouse side window on Orchard Street. The sales are sponsored by the Rhinebeck Grange. • The Hurley Heritage Society Museum at 52 Main St., Hurley, has opened for the season. View the ongoing exhibit “Winslow Homer in Hurley — an Artist’s View.” featuring reproducti­ons of the paintings and illustrati­ons Homer created during his visits to Hurley between 1870 and 1875. The exhibition features five new paintings this year. Museum hours are Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 to 4 p.m.
