EDWARD J. BOYLE, SR.

Edward J. Boyle Sr., 81, of Delaware Ave, Kingston, NY, died Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 at Northern Dutchess Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Kingston, NY on February 23rd, 1941, a son of late Robert and Helen (Henderson) Boyle. Ed was employed as a union painter for Local 155, and also proprietor of Boylee’s City Hall Rest on Hasbrouck Avenue in the 1970’s and 80’s. Following his retirement, Ed worked for Rondout Legal Services as a courier.

A parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, he was a member of the Kingston Elks Lodge 550 and was an avid NY Giants fan. Ed enjoyed gardening and woodworking, and he was always there to help others as a handyman. Most paramount to Ed was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rose C. Boyle, one son, Eddie (Chris) Boyle of Kingston, and his twin daughters, Pamela Boyle of Kingston and Chrissie (Tod) Wrixon of Ulster Park, five grandchildren, Bret and Connor Wrixon, Amber Boyle, Henry Wallace, and Lukas Boyle, one great-grandson, Brantley Wrixon, and one brother, Robert (Ellen) Boyle of NJ. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother John “Jack” Boyle (2021). The family will receive friends at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The procession will form at 9:00 am Friday, October 28, 2022, from the funeral home, thence to St. Mary’s Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Rev. William Scafidi, celebrant and Rev. Lou YaYa, concelebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
