WILLIAM GOTTLIEB REAL ESTATE RELEASES STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO KINGSTON’S MAYOR NOBLE

Kingston, New York (October 26, 2022) - Mayor Noble’s press release regarding the Kingstonian on October 18, 2022 contains lies and personal attacks aimed at a family company which is deeply concerned about the City’s misuse of taxpayer funds to further the Kingstonian project. The Mayor is attempting to shift the focus away from the City’s egregious giveaways and his disastrous term in office. The company sincerely and deeply believes in the importance of historic preservation and that the Kingstonian project will be detrimental to Uptown Kingston. The Mayor’s allegation that the legal challenges to the project are frivolous is an outright lie-not a single case was determined to be “frivolous” by a court. Further, the professional fire safety, traffic and historic resource reports submitted by the company were summarily dismissed by the City without any investigation, to the detriment of the community’s safety and quality of life. In fact, it was the company’s continued persistence and participation that resulted in many of the changes to the Kingstonian’s architecture. The Mayor must immediately stop serving as a megaphone and a tool for private developers and start representing all of the people of Kingston. We will continue fighting to preserve the integrity of the land use review process, the historic integrity of Uptown Kingston, public parkland, fiscal responsibility and for the future of Kingston.
