Thomas J. Martino, 99, of Kingston, NY, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at home. He was born March 19, 1923 in Kingston, son of the late Gaetano and Susan (Amato) Martino. Tom was married to the late Phyllis (McDermott) Martino. They were wed on November 2, 1947. Tom worked as a Manufactur­ing Service Specialist for IBM Kingston and retired after 36 years. Some of Tom’s favorite activities during his lifetime were playing golf with close friends, bowling and taking trips to casinos and the horse races with his wife, Phyllis. Tom was a baseball fan particular­ly of the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals and, as a skilled third baseman, was inducted into the Kingston Baseball Hall of Fame. Aside from his family, Tom was most proud of his patriotism and service in the US Army during WWII. Tom is survived by his children, Debra (David) DeKoff of Oneonta, Joni (John) Granwehr of Saugerties, Susan (Francis) Prendergas­t of Port Ewen, James (Bonnie) Martino of Milton, VT, Carolyn (Steven) Craig of Hurley, Stephanie Mains of Kingston, Judith Martino of Kingston, his grandchild­ren, Victoria Davide, Nicholas (Rebecca) Granwehr, five great grandchild­ren, Andrei Johnson, Aneiah Johnson, Margaret Shambo, Emma Granwehr, and Alyssa Granwehr, his siblings, Frank (Joan) Benicase, Samuel (Lorraine) Benicase, and Janis (Nick) Turck, as well an many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predecease­d by his daughter, Cheryl Davide, his siblings, Jennie Serra, Vera Amarello, Rose Grube, James Benicase, Joseph Benicase, Michael Benicase, Charles Benicasa, and Pete Benicasa. Arrangemen­ts entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 4pm to 8pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 9am and will process to St. Joseph’s RC Church, 242 Wall Street, Kingston, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
