DOROTHY MARTIN

MOUNT DORA, FL - Dorothy Martin, 97, of Mount Dora, FL, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022. Born in Englewood, NJ, she moved to Mount Dora in November of 2021 from Port Orange, FL. She lived most of her life in West Hurley, NY where she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hurley, NY. Dorothy was a member and was always active in the Ulster County, NY Home Extension Service where she was able to use and share her fine skills as a seamstress. In Florida, Dorothy was an associate member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Port Orange. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Francis Martin. She loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises throughout the world with Thomas and, after he passed away, with friends and family. She is survived by her 3 sons, Kirk D. (Michelle, deceased) Martin, Mount Dora, FL, Wayne T. (Yvette) Martin, Bearsville, NY, Brian R. (Darlene) Martin, Hurley, NY and 2 grandchildren, Natalie Martin and Andréa Martin. She was preceded in death by her brother, George (Dolly, deceased) Ruf, Rutherford, NJ. Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Eustis, FL on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memo- rial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Port-auPrince Haiti. Donations should be made payable to and in care of First Lutheran Church, 600 West Summer St., Lake Elsinore, CA 92530 with a reference to “Haiti” on the memo line.
