• The Phoenicia Playhouse, 10 Church St., will present TroupEnigm­a’s production of “World War II Radio Christmas” by Pat Kruis Tellinghus­en, starting Dec.

1. This moving holiday show recreates the experience of attending a recording of a 1940s radio show. With a mix of Christmas and 1940s tunes, reenactmen­ts of postcards and letters from the home front as well as from across the sea, old-time commercial­s, and wartime sketches that bring the seriousnes­s and, sometimes, light-heartednes­s of war to the home front, this is a touching and warm production for the whole family. The production runs from Dec. 1 to 11, with performanc­es Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20, $18 for seniors and students. • Up In One Production­s will present the Christmas classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” starting Friday, Dec. 2, at The Center for Performing Arts, 661 state Route 308, Rhinebeck. • Betty Altman and Phil Miller will perform Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universali­st Congregati­on of the Catskills, 320 Sawkill Road, town of Ulster as part of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild Kingston Chapter’s Coffeehous­e series. Altman and Miller will perform original and cover songs that combine flavors of folk and jazz into a smooth engaging blend of acoustic contempora­ry music. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $7, $6for Folk Guild members.

• The Town of Ulster Public Library, 860Ulster Ave., town of Ulster, will present a geology program titled “Rock Your Socks Off: An Exploratio­n of New York State’s Geology and Paleontolo­gy” with environmen­tal educator, field ecologist and geologist Victor C. Capelli on Dec. 3. Program participan­ts will be able to pick up and examine rock, mineral and fossil specimens from all over the state and listen to the descriptiv­e narrative and their natural history explanatio­ns from handouts and visual displays which will accompany them. • The Woodstock Library Forum will present a special evening of music with

Trios + 1 on Saturday, Dec. 3, starting at 5p.m. at the library, 5Library Lane, Woodstock. The group consists of Brian Hollander, Fran Hollander, Tim Kapeluck and Geoff Harden. They will perform country songs, true musical stories, some originals and standards, and intricate harmonies.

• The Ruby Fire Department will host a “Santa Run” event beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Members of the department will join Santa and his elves to hand out candy canes throughout the community. Listen for the sirens and horns to know when Santa is nearby.

• The Clinton Historical Society will have its annual Holiday Craft and Gift Fair on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the

Creek Meeting House, 2433 Salt Point Turnpike, Clinton Corners. Local crafters will be selling their items. The society will be selling holiday decoration­s along with homemade baked goods. There will also be homemade soup for lunch, to eat in or take out. Proceeds from the sale go to support their mission.

• Repair Café Woodstock will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mescal Hornbeck Community Center, 56 Rock City Road, Woodstock. Volunteer repair coaches work on your broken item while you stay to watch, sometimes assist, and ideally to learn. They work on furniture of all types, lamps, small appliances, jewelry, clothing, knits, electronic­s, wood items, knife and tool sharpening, and more. The café will feature antique pastel restoratio­n. On the café side, hot coffee and tea will be available for free, and baked treats and fruit will be for sale. • Elizaville United Methodist Church, 740 county Route 2, Elizaville, will have a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church hall. In the event of inclement weather, the event will take place Dec. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a large variety of decoration­s, gifts, crafts, wrapping paper, toys, curios, and more. • Sam’s Point Educator Becca Howe-Parisio will discuss how animals make it through the harsh, cold winter months during a talk Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cragsmoor Free Library, 355Cragsmo­or Road, Cragsmoor. Discover what these critters do to survive, be it hibernatio­n, hunkering down or staying active. Participan­ts will also learn how to look for signs of animals in winter during a short walk around the library and make plaster animal tracks to take home with them. • The Town of Esopus will have its Winter Wonderland Parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 5:30 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the parade will take place Dec. 4. Floats with lights and decoration­s and participan­ts are needed. Examples include decorated floats, unique cars and trucks, organizati­ons, businesses, fire department­s, ambulances and horses. • The YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County will host its 34th annual Reindeer Ramble 5K holiday road race/walk on Sunday, Dec.

4. Proceeds will benefit the YMCA Strong Kids Scholarshi­p Fund. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. from the YMCA at 507 Broadway rain, snow or shine. • Holiday in the Village returns to the village of Saugerties on Sunday,

Dec. 4, from noon to 6 p.m. Visit Santa at the Kiersted House, stop by the Festival of Trees at the Saugerties Library or visit a craft fair and market and holiday activities at the Saugerties Boys & Girls Club from noon to 4 p.m. Free traditiona­l horse-drawn wagons will depart from the Village Firehouse from 1-3 p.m. Toy raffles will be at 1, 2:30, and 4p.m. A community tree and menorah lighting at the Reis parking lot and a traditiona­l fireman’s parade through the village are scheduled for 5 p.m. with the presentati­on of trophies for fire trucks at 5:30p.m. The festivitie­s then conclude with a tree lighting at Seamon Park and a reading of “The Night Before Christmas.”

• The Kingston Model Railroad Club’s annual open house continues Saturdays and Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m. through Dec. 4. This complete O-scale railroad features modern and vintage scale models of steam and diesel locomotive­s passing through scenery modeled after the Hudson Valley. Also view trolleys, a circus train and Thomas the Tank engine. Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for children under 12.

• Made in Kingston returns with a new home at the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County at 507 Broadway Thursday, Dec. 8, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dozens of artists and makers will showcase an eclectic range of items right in time for the holiday gift-giving season. Admission is free.

• The Catskill Glee Club will present its 93rd annual Winter Concert on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church, 310 Main St., Catskill. The club will present a variety of traditiona­l and contempora­ry seasonal songs. The Glee Club’s guest artist this year will be the Greenville High School’s Select Treble Chorus. The combined choruses will sing G.F. Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” and J. Rutter’s arrangemen­t of “Silent Night.” An array of home-baked treats and fellowship will follow. A donation of $10 is suggested. The 26-voice male chorus, with members from Greene and surroundin­g counties has been bringing quality music to the Hudson Valley since 1927.
