KINGSTON, N.Y. >> Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.’s natural gas supply will drop in March, according to the utility.

On Wednesday, March 1, the residential price for natural gas supply will decrease to 89.3 cents per hundred cubic feet from 94.4 cents in February, according to Central Hudson spokesman Joseph Jenkins.

“This decrease is largely due to a warmer than average winter dampening overall demand up to this point,” Jenkins said in a statement.

“Central Hudson purchases electricity and gas from third-party suppliers on behalf of full-service customers. These costs are not marked up and Central Hudson does not profit from them, meaning customers pay the same rates as Central Hudson for the energy they use,” Jenkins added Tuesday.

The price for natural gas supply was 94.6 cents per ccf in January; 87.5 cents in December; 73.8 cents in November; and 78 cents in October.

The March electricity supply prices won’t be known until the middle of the month.

Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.’s electric supply in February dropped 10 11.8 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) cents, from 14.3 centers per kWh in January.

That January cost was up less than a penny from December’s price of 13.7 cents per kWh.

In November, the price per kilowatt hour was 16.1 cents, while the price in October was 16.93 cents, oneeighth of a penny less.

Prior to November, electricity prices had skyrocketed for four consecutive months, the numbers reported show.

The utility has said that the electricity supply increased from 13.06 cents per kWh in September to 16.93 cents in October.

In August, the electric supply cost was 8.32 cents. It was 5.83 cents in July; 4.18 cents in June; and 6.12 cents in May.
