Families, pets can have their photo taken with Santa
EAST CALN » A photo opportunity next Saturday with Santa will be held at the Technical College High School Brandywine Campus.
The Veterinary Science and Early Childhood Care and Education programs are hosting the event from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Nov. 29 for families and their pets have their picture taken with Santa. Call 484-593-5100 to register, which is required. The school is located at 443 Boot Road.
Photos of pets cost $10 and $15 for portraits with children and pets. Each package includes one 5 x 7” and two 4 x 6” photos.
This is more than photo opportunity, event organizers said, this is a way to capture holiday memories and give Technical College High School students practical learning experiences.
“This event is an opportunity for students in these two programs to explore their chosen career paths outside of the in-class curriculum,” Katie Smith said, a veterinary science instructor. “While working with the public, students will gain real-life experiences in customer relations, communications, teamwork and interactions with animals and children.”
Veterinary Science students will be in charge of handling and placing pets properly in each photograph. They will put into practice their experiences and education on proper handling techniques, interpreting animal body language and caring for each animal throughout the session.
The Veterinary Science program is designed to prepare students for employment in the field of veterinary medicine. Students interact with animals in and out of the classroom, job shadow and attend clinics with local veterinarians.
Students in the Early Childhood Care and Education program will interact with the children during the photo sessions and use their experiences to lead activities encouraging families to share their thoughts on the holidays, Santa and the importance of giving.
Children will be encouraged to write letters to Santa. Event organizers said that a response letter from Sanata will be included in a goody bag given to each family when they pick up their photos. The goody bag will also include coupons for Technical College High School Brandywine services provided by barbering and cosmetology students.
Pictures will be available for pick-up within one week of the photo shoot at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union located in the Technical College High School Brandywine building.
