Dew’s 33 points powers Downingtow­n West

Maddie Dew scored 33points to lead Downingtow­n West to a 64-44victory over Chester High in the opening round of the Great Valley Tournament on Friday.

Maddie Dew posted 33 points which was good enough to help Downingtow­n West’s girls basketball team cruise past Chester High School 64-44 in the opening round of the Great Valley Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Dew knocked down three 3-pointers, and helped engineer a 13-point advantage for the Whippets (1-0) at halftime. Hannah Supplee finished with 15 points. Downingtow­n West’s defense was equally as impressive, holding the Clippers (0-1) to seven points in the fourth quarter.

They will play Great Valley in their second game of the Great Valley Tournament today at 5:30 p.m. Ches-Mont Division Challenge with the help of Nasisa Saunders 10-point performanc­e. Coatesvill­e had 9 different players score.
