CONESTOGA 94, LOWER MERION 74 >> The Pioneers (1-0) picked up the Central League victory with strong performanc­es from Brian McKenrick, Brian Jay, Bohan Song, and Jake Moran. McKenrick placed first in the 50-meter freestyle. Jay won the 200 individual medley. Song placed first in the 100 freestyle, and Moran won the 100 breaststro­ke. BISHOP SHANAHAN 89, KENNETT 69 >> The Eagles (10) were led by Tom Powell who won the 200-meter medley relay, 200 freestyle, and 100 backstroke.

John Libert won four races for the Blue Demons (0-1).

GIRLS SWIMMING

BISHOP SHANAHAN 109, KENNETT 61 >> Megan Kowalski won the 200-meter medley relay, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststro­ke and 100 freestyle relay, which heled the Eagles (1-0) pick up their first victory.

Blue Demons’ (0 -1) Baily Reigel finished first in the 200 individual medley.

College Men’s swimming

West Chester University’s men’s swimming team took eight of nine events Friday evening on the first day of competitio­n against Ursinus College at Graham Natatorium.

West Chester holds a 115-46 advantage on Ursinus heading into tomorrow’s final day.

Bogdan Grebenyuk set a pool record in the 100yard breaststro­ke, topping Olympian Brendan Hanson’s time of 55.28 seconds set during a high school district championsh­ip meet, with a time of 54.58 seconds. Mike Oliver also topped his personal best by more than 20 seconds in winning the 500 free with a time of 4:39.48. The Golden Rams swept the top three spots in that event with Conor Forlini finishing second (4:46.98) and Geoff Boodey finishing third (4:52.20).

West Chester claimed both first and second place in the 200 medley relay. The team of John Livezey, Thomas McCormick, Luke Maguire and Alex Corbett touched the wall first in 1:36.86 while the foursome of Victor Polyakov, Ben Service, Vinny Termin and Evan Sherkness was right behind in 1:37.10.

Women’s swimming

West Chester University’s women’s swimming team won four of nine events Friday evening on the first day of competitio­n against Ursinus College at Graham Natatorium.

The visiting Bears hold an 89-69 edge over the host Golden Rams after nine events.

Emily Stang won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1 minute, 58.38 seconds while Morgan Haney placed fourth in 1:59.73. Tess Hayward and Darby Bentz were the only other first place finishers individual­ly for West Chester on the first night. Hayward won the 500 free with a time of 5:15.20. Kendall Somer was third in 5:20.04 while Alexis Walley placed fourth in 5:20.43. Bentz won the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 1:03.07.
