Small comes up big for the Whippets

Josh Marcelli picked up in the win for the Whippets (4-1 league), throwing a scoreless seventh inning. Doug Conrad picked up the no decision.
The Red Raiders (0-3) were led by Vic Gabriel who went 3-for-3, and Colin Limper who batted 2-for-3. GREAT VALLEY 1, OXFORD 0, 9 INNINGS >> Allen Barry tossed a nine-inning, complete game shutout to lead the Patriots to the ChesMont American victory. In the top of the ninth inning, Carter Rubin led off with a double. After Barry singled to move Rubin to third, Austin Lenker laid down a sacrafice bunt to score the game-winning run.
Joe Boggs went nine innings for the Hornets (1-3, 1-3) allowing six hits. UNIONVILLE 9, AVON GROVE
4 >> Ryan Barrett pitched 6 1/3 innings, struck out five, and only gave up one earned run for the Indians (2-3, 2-3) as they picked up the Ches-Mont victory, He also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Tyler Rafetto hit two-for-three and knocked in two RBIs. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 16, BISHOP SHANAHAN 10 >> The Warriors (3-4, 3-4) were led by Vinny Feola, who went 3-for-5, scored three runs, and knocked in two RBIs. Mike Hill batted 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

GREAT VALLEY 10, OXFORD 7 >> Morgan Orlowski fanned 10 and Marit Vike registered three hits, scored two runs and drove in two to lead the Patriots (2-2) the visiting Hornets. Vike’s big hit was a based loaded double in the fifth to key a sixrun rally. Jordan Wright had two hits, two runs and two RBIs for Oxford (1-4). KENNETT 9, SUN VALLEY 1 >> The Blue Demons’ (2-2, 2-3) Maddie Bowe threw a two-hitter complete game. Myia Bonifacino went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Bailey Reigel went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 7, OCTORARA 0 >> Caela Abadie did it at the mound and the plate for the Golden Knights, who blanked host Octorara. Abadie allowed just two hits in the seveninning shutout and delivered a pair of hits and too RBIs for Rustin (4-1). Octorara is 0-5. DOWNINGTOWN EAST 12, WEST CHESTER EAST 10 >> Amanda Violante led the Cougars (3-1, 3-1) with her 4-for-5 performance at the plate. She also scored three runs and posted five RBIs. Rachel Glazer earned her first win of the season.
