Ricky Eugen Strait of Vermilion

Rick y Eugene Strait, 68, of Vermilion, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at his home after a brief illness.

Ricky was born March 12, 1947 in Columbus. He had been a Vermilion resident for the past 4 years moving from Summerville, SC. He had also lived in Coatesville, PA for 33 years. .

He graduated from Springfield North High School and Bowling Green State University in 1971. He was a veteran of the Army Reserves.

Ricky was an executive with the German Manufacturing Company, NETZSCH, for 22 years retiring in 2002.

He was a member of TAPPI, a professional organization for the pulp, paper, packaging and related industries; PAN, Pennsylania Association of Notaries, WEFTEC, Water Environment Federation Association; and 3-A Sanitary Standards, a working group for pumps and mixers. He enjoyed walking, boating, cars; and going to car shows. He also enjoyed researching and following through with home improvement projects.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jacqueline Strait (nee Stuntz) of Vermilion; brother, Blayne Strait of Enon, OH; sister, Beverly Adams of Reynoldsburg, OH; nieces, Elizabeth Watson, Josalyn Davis, Lindsay Riffle, and Janalee Nickles; and nephew, Robert Watson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Emma Jean (nee Masterson) Strait.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Strongs Ridge Cemetery, Bellevue, Ohio.
