Summer Jam Series returns Friday
The event, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Kerr Park, includes musical acts, food and a beer and cocktail garden
DOWNINGTOWN >> The Downingtown Summer Jam Series returns Friday at the Concert Gazebo in Kerr Park with five live musical acts, local crafters, food and beer.
Event organizers said the Summer Jam Series in June was a huge success that brought in more than 700 people into the heart of Downingtown to enjoy music, food and fun with family, friends and neighbors.
“It’s great to see the community supporting us and catching on to this event,” said Phil Mascherino, Summer Jam coordinator.
Back again for the July music festival will be a beer garden hosted by Station Taproom, featuring locally brewed craft beers. New this Friday will be Manatawny Still Works, a Pottstown based distillery, offering handcrafted cocktails. The Happy Pita, St. Anthony’s Restaurant, Mompops and J-Dogs Catering will offer food at the event.
The evening will be highlighted with five musical acts ranging from rock, country and bluegrass. Acoustic musician Kenny Lawson will take the stage at 6 p.m. when the Summer Jam series begins. He will be followed by singersongwriter, Robb Balchunas. Young talent Sam Schmidthuber will perform at 7 p.m. followed by local classic rock groups, Free Range and The Billy Penn Band.
The Summer Jam Series events are held on the last Friday of each summer month. The next event will be held Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. It is free to the public.
