Six-run first lifts Red Men
The Red Men scored six runs in the first inning en route to a 9-8 victory over the Jays in the West Chester Baseball League on Wednesday.
Matt Palmer led the offense by going 3-for-4. Kyle Guers was the winning pitcher for the Tribe (6-24).

BRANDYWINE VALLEY SENIOR SLOWPITCH » Avante Spa captured the Silver Division championship by sweeping Rock Rupart Real Estate by scores of 24-11 and 3-12. John Greco was 4-for-5 in both games to lead the way. Marty McCormick had five hits in the first game and three in the second. John Rogers homered in the opener and belted a pair of triples in the nightcap.
TRI-COUNTY SENIOR MODIFIED » Dennis Westhafer drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to help Landmark Auto edge Allstate, 3-2, in Game 2 of their semifinal series. Jim Grinestaff doubled in a pair of runs and was the winning pitcher. Don Mullen homered for Allstate.
In the other semifinal series, Mike Long allowed just four hits as Road Scholar Transport rolled to a 13-1 win over Fence Sense/Proudfoot Roofing to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five round. Scott Minnier had three hits, while Wayne Taylor and Dave Domsohn added two hits each.
