An al­lyou-can-eat buf­fet break­fast is held Satur­day, Sept. 24 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. But­ter­milk pan­cakes, French toast, scram­bled eggs, fresh fruit, sausage, ba­con, oven roasted pota­toes, dried beef gravy and spe­cialty breads are on the menu. Adults are $7, chil­dren ages 3 to 10 are $3. Ad­vance tick­ets are avail­able from Becky Kleinz or the church of­fice or can by pur­chased at the door. Ven­dors wanted for church flea mar­ket

Mar­shall­ton United Methodist Church: 1282 West Stras­burg Road, West Ch­ester. A fall fun fes­ti­val and flea mar­ket is held Satur­day, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date Sept. 17). Ice Cream Fest

Grove United Methodist Church: Ice cream and top­pings are of­fered to all (free) on Sun­day, Sept. 25 from 2-4 p.m. when has its an­nual Ice Cream Fest. The event in­cludes a moon bounce (also free), face paint­ing, and other chil­dren’s ac­tiv­i­ties, and live mu­sic. Ice cream, top­pings, and ac­tiv­i­ties are free to all. Grove is lo­cated at 490 West Boot Road north of West Ch­ester; parking is free and am­ple.

Fall sale, Trunk or Treat

Book club dis­cus­sion group

Cal­vary Lutheran Church: 730 South New Street, West Ch­ester; Lead­ers of dif­fer­ent faith com­mu­ni­ties are work­ing to­gether to pro­mote un­der­stand­ing and peace. Pas­tor Dan Krew­son be­lieves “that we must be in­ten­tional to wage peace in light of the es­ca­lat­ing re­li­gious vi­o­lence and ex­trem­ism of our day.” Mem­bers of the Re­li­gious Coun­cil of Greater West Ch­ester are host­ing a book dis­cus­sion group in 2016-17. Par­tic­i­pants are in­vited to read “Lay­ing Down the Sword” by Philip Jenk­ins. The group will meet four times: Oct. 24, Nov. 28, Jan. 23 and March 6.
