West Chester hosts Autumn Gallery Walk
The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Autumn Gallery Walk from 5 to 9 p.m. on “First Friday,” Oct. 7. It marks the chamber’s 26th year celebrating the community of artists and galleries that make West Chester their home.
Organizers say Gallery Walk provides visitors the opportunity to experience downtown West Chester’s blend of urban sophistication and small town ambiance.
The historic borough is home to an eclectic mix of galleries. Five prominent galleries will combine with more than three dozen additional “one night only” show hosts throughout the downtown business area.
Brochures with walking maps will direct visitors to show locations. Look for signs that designate official Gallery Walk hosts and their status as Chamber of Commerce members.
Exhibits will include paintings in watercolor, acrylic and oil as well as sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics, textiles and more.

Aqua Pa. announces Chester County projects
Aqua Pennsylvania recently announced that $3.1 million in infrastructure improvement projects in Schuylkill and Tredyffrin townships and in West Chester borough in Chester County.
In Schuylkill and Tredyffrin, crews are working on a $1.4 million project to install 9,134 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe, replacing the old 6- and 8-inch cast iron main. The work is expected to be complete in November.
Also in Schuylkill, crews worked on a $455,000 project to replace old 6-inch cast iron water main with 460 feet of 6-inch and 2,080 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe.
A $1.2 million main project is under way in West Chester, where old 12- and 8-inch cast iron water main is being replaced with 525 feet of 12-inch and 4,600 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe, with completion expected in October.
The projects will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area, the water company said.
