Golf tourney raises funds for homeless children in Chesco

WEST CHESTER >> Seventysix golfers participat­ed in 18 holes of scramble golf at the Broad Run Golfers Club, raising funds for homeless and near homeless children in Chester County.

Landmark Americana Tap & Grill hosted its second Annual Charity Golf Tournament sponsored in West Chester on Monday, September 12. $8,550 was raised to support children facing homelessne­ss.

“The Landmark Americana Golf for Kids event was a huge success this year! The weather was perfect. The golf course was in spectacula­r condition and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event. Thanks to all the Landmark Americana and Vanguard employee volunteers who helped put it together. We couldn’t have done it without you,” said Brian Zimmerman, co-founder of the event.

First place trophies went to the team of Jeremy Pilkerton, Jason Santora, both of West Chester and the father and son team from Aston, Mike and John Tuohey. Second place winners were: Steve Spera, Jeff Gressel, Adam Pricard and Jim Curley. In third place was the team of: Sean Ryan, Brian Zimmerman, Greg Defeo and Nick Banta.

Tournament participan­ts enjoyed a variety of competitio­ns in addition to 18 holes of scramble golf tournament play. Activities included a “Closest to the Pin” competitio­n presented by Precision Graphix, and the Pot of Gold competitio­n sponsored by Absolute Repairs & Remodeling. Longest Drive was won by Nick Banta and Closest to the Pin was Mike Tuohey.

“It is such an honor to be able to host members of the local community and supporters of the organizati­on in our annual Golf Tournament” says Jason Santora, Landmark Americana General Manager and co-founder of the event. “We are so lucky to be able to play such an outstandin­g golf course in the area and work with the hard working staff of Friends Associatio­n for Care & Protection of Children.”

PGM Real Estate, corporate sponsor of the tournament received the “Best FRIENDS Award” which recognized the person or corporatio­n that goes above and beyond for the tournament each year.

Friends Associatio­n promotes the independen­ce of families with children by providing shelter, programs and services that prevent and end homelessne­ss in Chester County. In 2015, Friends Associatio­n saved over 96 families and 187 children from homelessne­ss.
