Merle E. ‘Bud’ Hove of Coatesvill­e

Merle E. “Bud” Hove, 86, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Brandywine Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Margaret E. “Maggie” Hove, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage at the time of her passing.

Born in Poplar Township, Minnesota, Merle was the son of the late Ole and Judith (nee Fredine) Hove.

Merle proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict as an airman.

He worked for Lukens Steel Company as a melder for 30 years until his retirement.

Merle was a member of the American Legion, Post #475. He enjoyed spending time outdoors; whether it was gardening, camping, hunting and fishing or traveling. His most treasured times though, were those spent with his loving family - he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children; Linda C. Baxter (Jacob) of Thorndale, Gary Hove (Gina) of Coatesvill­e and Brian Hove (Sherrie) of New Holland; a sister, Judy Kruempel of St. Charles, Minnesota; 5 grandchild­ren and 4 great grandchild­ren.

In addition to his wife Maggie, Merle was pre-deceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtow­n, PA 19335, where family and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the beginning of the service. Interment will be private.
