DEAR CHAPLAIN>>

Why should I continue to trust a God who allowed my wife to pass and then my daughter, unexpectedly, six months later? Does he even care about what I’m going through. Signed, Tired of Trusting

DEAR TIRED OF TRUSTING>>

The first time a child plays tackle football for a youth league, a coach must allow him or her to suffer the shock of hard blows he or she is not prepared for. It’s shocking and painful, and initially most children don’t understand why they have to endure such suffering to play the game. But, the coach who has more wisdom and understanding than the child, knows it’s a necessary part of the process to obtain the end result. And the coach will never leave the child alone, but rather he’s right there with them the whole time leading, guiding, and encouraging them, letting them know they can make it. I believe you should trust God, because he’s like a coach, not only does he see and know all that you’re going through ... but he’s been through it himself. He had to allow his only beloved son Jesus, to suffer and die, so that those who believe on him could be saved. I believe you should trust God because like a coach he can see what you can not. He knows and understands that all he allows is a necessary part of the process. And though you may have suffered some mighty low blows, the Lord is right there with you to lead you and guide you and to encourage you through his Word, his music, his people, and his precious Holy Spirit who is the great comforter. I believe you should trust God because like a coach, no matter what you suffer and endure in life, he will never leave or forsake you because as he promises in Genesis 28:15, “I am with you and will keep you, wherever you go”. Please know that God does care for you, He cares for each of us deeply, as he reminds us Matthew 6:26. I’m so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
