Rabbi installed at Kesher Israel

Rabbi Lawrence Troster was recently installed as the15th Rabbi in the history of Kesher Israel Congregati­on of West Chester. He has been the synagogue’s interim Rabbi since June 2015.

Sylvia Veitia, President of the congregati­on said in a statement, “Members of Kesher Israel Congregati­on are thrilled with the impact Rabbi Troster has made on the community in a short period of time and we are looking forward to a bright future with him as our full term Rabbi.

“We’re excited because he’s such a great teacher and has a real understand­ing and passion for making current events and Torah relevant,” Veitia said. “He’s also an inspiratio­nal leader for social action.”

Prior to joining the clergy of Kesher Israel Congregati­on, Rabbi Troster was the Rabbinic-Scholar-in-Residence of Greenfaith, the interfaith environmen­tal coalition in New Jersey. Rabbi Troster is also part of the leadership team of ourvoices.net, a worldwide movement of people of all faiths advocating for a strong climate treaty.

In a statement, Rabbi Troster said he is looking forward to growing with the Kesher Israel community. “My goal for Kesher Israel is to help guide people on their Jewish journeys and to create a vibrant Jewish community here in Chester County,” Troster said.
