L. Wayne Thomas, formerly of Christina, Pa.

1931-2016

L. Wayne Thomas, age 85, passed away at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Saturday, October 1, 2016. He was the husband of the late Joyce E. Caulwell Thomas who passed away on June 23, 1994.

Wayne was born in Christiana, son of the late Earl W. Thomas and Ruth Brown Thomas Snyder and step-father James G. “Spark” Snyder. He retired from Lukens Steel, where he was employed as a Standards Technician. Wayne was a member of the Christiana United Methodist Church from birth and actively supported the church throughout his life. He was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Christiana Lions Club with over 55 years of service and nearly perfect attendance. Additionally, he was the club secretary for over 40 years. He played “Granny C” for the Christiana Clampetts. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, theater productions and working with stained glass.

Surviving are 4 children: Michael W. husband of Shari Brown Thomas of Strasburg, Robert B. husband of Christine Landis Thomas of Parkesburg, Dawn T. wife of Richard C. Stott of Conestoga, Mark A. husband of Valerie Keefer Thomas of Danville, PA, 7 granddaughters, 4 stepgrandchildren, greatgrandchildren, 3 stepgreat-grandchildren, and sister Donna wife of Mike Byrd of Gap. Also surviving is his significant other, his sweetie, Kaye Meyer of Parkesburg.

A memorial service will take place from the Christiana United Methodist Church, 14 South Bridge Street, Christiana, PA on Sunday, October 16th at 3 p.m. with a time to greet the family from 1:30 p.m. until time of service. Private interment will take place prior to the memorial service in the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery, Gap, PA.
