Great Val­ley staves off Avon Grove

Thea Howard had two goals and an as­sist as Great Val­ley held off Avon Grove, 4-3, in a Ches-Mont League girls soc­cer con­test.

Sarah Schultz and Cas­sidy Hoops also scored for the Pa­tri­ots (5-5).

Emma Roberts recorded a pair of goals for the Red Devils (5-5). the Hur­ri­canes (6-4, 9-5) in the AACA win. Maya Duke, Grace Well­man and mid­fielder Sophia Coz­zone played well of­fen­sively, while Al­li­son Van Grinsven was a stand­out on de­fense.

DOWN­ING­TOWN WEST 7, GREAT VAL­LEY 0 >> Romea Ric­cardo and Ju­lianna Smyth had two goals each as the Whip­pets (10-0, 122) col­lected the Ches-Mont tri­umph. West recorded its 12th shutout of the sea­son. CON­ESTOGA 8, PEN­NCREST 0 >> Mered­ith Ross, Char­lotte de Vries and Carly Ack­er­man had two goals each as the Pi­o­neers (7-0, 12-1) recorded the Cen­tral League win. Stephanie Hamil­ton and Emma McGil­lis also scored.


WEST CH­ESTER HEN­DER­SON 3, ACADEMY PARK 1 >> Amelia Con­sta­ble had seven kills to help the War­riors win the nonleague con­test, 25-3, 2510, 22-25, 25-16. Julia Gi­unta added five aces and Al­lie De­breau added six aces and 29 as­sists.

DOWN­ING­TOWN WEST 3, PEN­NCREST 1 >> Aly Rear­don col­lected 12 kills and four aces as the Whip­pets (11-2) won the nonleague con­test in four sets, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 25-20. So­phie Gelling had seven kills and five blocks, Ken­zie Pin­cura had 10 kills and six aces. Alex Kenny recorded 13 digs and eight as­sists and Ha­ley Lewis added five kills and five aces.

WEST CH­ESTER EAST 3, RIDLEY0>> Ali Ward has 14 kills and 19 digs for the Vik­ings in the nonleague win. Tay­lor Craw­ford has 25 as­sists, while Sophia Fran­cisco and Kelly Dick­er­son had 18 digs each.

SUN VAL­LEY 3, OX­FORD 0 >> Logan Wolfe had four kills, two aces and three blocks as the Hor­nets fell, 25-19, 25-17, 25-21. Mad­die Hamil­ton added nine as­sists and Nikki Jones had 14 digs.

Col­lege Women’s Soc­cer

IMMACULATA 5, ROSE­MONT 1>> Kyle Ju­malon had two goals and two as­sists as the Mighty Macs (3-1, 8-41) won the CSAC con­test. Alex Noel, Mark Stau­den­mayer and Nick Boule also scored for Immaculata.

Men’s Soc­cer

WEST CH­ESTER 2, EAST STROUDS­BURG 1, OT >> West Ch­ester’s sopho­more mid­fielder Tyler Rap­poselli reg­is­tered the game-win­ning goal to lift the Golden Rams over vis­it­ing East Strouds­burg in dou­ble over­time. Ju­nior for­ward Gio­vanni Mowrey found an open Rap­poselli rac­ing down the far side of the field to pull out the vic­tory for the Golden Rams (8-3-2, 5-1-1 PSAC).


WEST CH­ESTER 3, CHEYNEY 0 >> Cheyney Univer­sity women’s vol­ley­ball fell in three sets to crosstown ri­val West Ch­ester. Chelsea Hut­son led the Wolves (2-12, 0-7) with five kills and 13 digs. Vir­shawna Camp­bell reg­is­tered four kills and seven digs.

The Golden Rams (155, 3-4) were led by Ab­bie Dis­chert with 13 kills and Jil­lian Gram­mer’s 24 as­sists.
